- The group will assist men in learning how to cope with every day stresses. It will provide a useful, supportive and encouraging
place for men to discuss anxieties and fears in their lives.
- The two facilitators will encourage the group to look at how thinking can affect how we feel and how the past can influence our
present.
- We will respectfully encourage men to express their difficulties in communicating with their partners, either past or present.
- We will look at practical tools and techniques for reducing stress and improving communication.
- In society today it is common for men to feel isolated. The supervised group will be a confidential, non-judgmental and safe place
where participants can receive support from the presence of others.
Sessions will include some of the following:
Group time - participants are given the opportunity to bring issues that are affecting their lives. This material is worked on and facilitated using the support of the group setting.
Identifying resources - an exercise based on the work of Babette Rothschild that explores how we can be more supported in our lives and therefore more effective with less burn-out.
Mindfulness - practical tools and techniques that can be integrated into daily life for reducing stress and anxiety. During these exercises participants are encouraged to look at ways to support themselves in order to develop greater wellbeing.
Active Listening - a way of listening thereby improving communication and becoming more self aware.
