Course Description:

A one-year Body Orientated Psychotherapy Training in conjunction with Trácht Psychotherapy Foundation

This training is experiential and supported by a theoretical framework, exploring the intrinsic link between Psyche and Soma. It is suitable for professional Psychotherapists and Counsellors interested in learning about and integrating Body Psychotherapy skills in professional practice.

Background:

Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy is a humanistic psychotherapy, which emphasizes the importance of the body in sustaining psychological, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing. Much of the thinking and practice comes from the work of Gerda Boyesen, a notable Norwegian psychologist who lived and worked in London from the 1960's to the 90’s and died in 2006.

More generally the bodywork psychotherapy field is underpinned by the work of Wilhelm Reich and Alexander Lowen.

Course content:

• Bodywork - Biodynamic massage, Vegetotherapy, movement and expression.
• Working with resistance and “armor” in the body.
• Reichean Character Structure.
• Dynamic relaxation.
• Breath / voice work.
• Developing resilience, resources and human potential.
• Exploring self-regulation, independent wellbeing and a connection to the alive core of the Primary Self.

Students will receive a postgraduate certificate in Biodynamic and Integrative Psychotherapy.

Date: October 2012 – June 2013

Time: Saturday & Sunday 10am – 5.30pm.

Venue: The Well, Ballintubber, Carrigtwohill, Co. Cork.

Cost: €1720 (price includes home cooked lunch on both days). A place on the course is confirmed on receipt of a €300 deposit.
